Cooling fans.
The production car has an engine driven fan which is mounted on the water pump a long way from the radiator, and so does not pull the air very efficiently. It also takes a fair bit of engine power to drive the fan.
Not really a problem for standard road use, but better efficiency, and power can be found by fitting an electric fan.
Supplied with a screw in switch fitted, and mounted directly onto the radiator, with wiring and a relay. £116.00

4/4 Zetec 1992-02
Surface area 15% larger for more efficient cooling.
Direct replacement for original
New screw in fan switch supplied to replace the push in type.
Fitted with mountings to use the original Kenlow cooling fan.
The original fan is 300mm (12”) diameter and can be used again if in good condition.
£425.00.
Note :-
About 1998, a totally different cooling fan was used, made by Spal. Still at 300mm, these fans appear to be a lot more powerful than the Kenlow. If you have one of these, they seem to be very reliable and we can fit the mounting brackets to use the original fan.

4/4 and +4 Duratec 2005-2008
With this new engine, the original late style Plus 8 radiator was used, the same as used in the ‘04 to ‘08 Roadster.
They appear to have sufficient cooling capacity when used with the standard engines.
There is no need to change this radiator as it works well for road use, even with mildly modified engines.
The only downside is it weighs 8.5 Kg. Ours weigh 4.0 Kg.
